Workers Compensation & CTP Psychology

Sydney or Online

A workplace injury or motor vehicle accident can affect far more than your physical health. Anxiety, low mood, disrupted sleep, pain and changes to your sense of safety can make daily life feel very different.

At Two Birds Psychology, I provide psychological treatment for adults on Workers Compensation and CTP claims. I am a SIRA-approved registered psychologist based in Bondi Junction, Sydney, with telehealth appointments available Australia-wide.

Whether you are adjusting to an injury, recovering from a distressing experience or finding your way back to work, therapy offers a practical space to understand what is happening and work towards recovery.

Psychological support after a workplace injury

Work-related difficulties can affect your confidence, relationships and ability to manage everyday demands. Psychological treatment may help with:

  • Anxiety, panic, low mood or sleep difficulties following injury

  • Distress related to workplace bullying, conflict or a traumatic incident

  • Adjustment to physical injury, persistent pain or reduced capacity

  • Loss of confidence, frustration and uncertainty about the future

  • Fear or avoidance associated with returning to the workplace

  • Building routines and strategies that support sustainable recovery.

We begin by understanding your experience, current symptoms and goals. Treatment is tailored to what you need, your stage of recovery and the requirements of your claim.

What treatment can involve

My approach is collaborative and evidence-based. Treatment may draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-focused approaches including EMDR when appropriate.

Depending on your needs, we may work on managing anxiety and physical arousal, improving sleep, coping with pain, reducing avoidance, rebuilding confidence and reconnecting with meaningful activities. We discuss the options together and review how treatment is helping.

Not every stressful experience leads to PTSD. Where trauma symptoms are present, assessment helps clarify what is happening and whether trauma-focused treatment is suitable.

Recovery and a sustainable return to work

Returning to work can bring mixed feelings. You may want to move forward while feeling uncertain about your capacity, safety or how you will be received.

Therapy can support a gradual, realistic recovery process by identifying barriers, strengthening coping skills and working towards achievable goals. The focus is on safe, sustainable participation in work and daily life.

With your consent, I can collaborate with your GP, insurer, rehabilitation provider and other treating professionals so that psychological treatment fits within your broader recovery plan.

CTP psychology after a motor vehicle accident

A motor vehicle accident can leave you feeling unsettled long after the immediate event. Some people experience:

  • Anxiety about driving, travelling or being near traffic

  • Intrusive memories, nightmares or feeling constantly on alert

  • Avoidance of places or activities associated with the accident

  • Low mood, irritability or difficulty concentrating

  • Stress related to pain, disrupted routines and changes in independence.

CTP psychological treatment can help you make sense of these reactions and gradually rebuild a sense of safety and confidence. Your treatment plan is guided by your symptoms, needs and recovery goals.

Getting started

When you enquire, please have your claim number, insurer details and case manager contact information available, along with any referral or treatment approval. We can clarify what is needed before your first appointment.

Funding and approval requirements vary between schemes and individual claims. An accepted claim does not automatically mean every service is funded. Please confirm the required insurer approval and payment arrangements before attending.

At the first session, we discuss what has happened, how it is affecting you and what you would like help with. We develop a treatment plan and explain any reporting requirements relevant to your claim.
