Adult ADHD Assessment - Sydney and Online
An ADHD assessment can help you understand longstanding patterns with attention, organisation, task initiation, restlessness and impulsivity, and how these affect your everyday life.
At Two Birds Psychology, adult assessments take a collaborative, neuroaffirming approach. Christine considers your experiences, developmental history, strengths and current difficulties, alongside other factors that may contribute to the challenges you are facing.
The adult ADHD assessment package is $1,350 including assessment appointments, relevant questionnaires, clinical review, a written report and a feedback appointment.
What does the assessment process involve?
1. Initial appointment
We discuss what has brought you to assessment, your current concerns, relevant history and what you hope to understand. This appointment also helps establish whether an ADHD assessment is the appropriate next step.
2. Questionnaires and background information
You will complete relevant questionnaires before your structured assessment appointment. With your consent, information may also be sought from someone who knows you well. School reports and previous assessments can be helpful if available. If these are unavailable, Christine will discuss other ways to explore your childhood history.
3. Structured assessment interview
A detailed interview explores ADHD symptoms during childhood and adulthood, including their impact on work, study, relationships and everyday responsibilities. The assessment also considers other explanations and co-occurring difficulties.
4. Written report and feedback
Christine brings together the assessment findings and prepares a written report explaining the outcome and personalised recommendations. A feedback appointment provides time to discuss the findings, ask questions and consider your next steps.
An assessment may conclude that ADHD criteria are met, that another explanation better accounts for your difficulties, or that further information or assessment is needed. You receive feedback and recommendations regardless of the outcome.

Referrals, rebates and medication
A thoughtful assessment considers current difficulties and developmental history, including whether symptoms were present in childhood and affect different areas of life.
Assessment may include a clinical interview, validated questionnaires, information about childhood and everyday functioning, and consideration of other explanations or overlapping conditions. Where useful and available, information from someone who knows you well can add to the picture.
We discuss the findings, recommendations and any further assessment that may be needed. A written report can support next steps. Contact the practice to confirm the assessment scope, fee and report arrangements before booking.
If you want to explore medication, a separate medical assessment is needed. Psychologists do not prescribe medication, and a receiving clinician may require their own assessment.
Referrals, rebates and medication
A GP referral is not required to book a private psychological assessment. Medicare rebates are generally not available for a standalone adult ADHD diagnostic assessment or report under a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Private health benefits depend on your individual policy.
Christine does not prescribe medication. If you wish to explore medication, speak with your GP about an appropriate medical assessment and prescribing pathway. With your consent, your report can be shared with your treating practitioner, who may require further assessment.
Assessments are available in Bondi Junction and via telehealth where clinically appropriate. Contact Two Birds Psychology to arrange a brief introductory call.
